Ed Street, 88 of Baxter, passed from this life Monday, October 30, 2017, at Cookeville Regional Medical.
He was born Sunday, December 9, 1928.
He married Ella Rose Jones on December 8, 1951. He served as a Chief Petty Officer for the United States Navy for 22 years. He was awarded numerous Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal. Korean Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He then retired from the Virginia Department of Highways as a safety engineer after 25 years of employment. He had a passion for the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and wood working. He was honored to have had an opportunity to crew extensively on an antique three masted sailing frigate of the US Navy. Together, he and Rose loved camping and traveled much of the United States. He never met a stranger, and was a very giving person.
He is survived by his daughter Connie Street Whitesell and her husband Larry of Baxter.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by Rose his wife of 58 years, his younger daughter Wendy, his 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Ed has chosen cremation and to be placed beside his wife in Richmond,Virginia.
