Virginia Hunter (Hodges)
VIRGINIA HODGES KING HUNTER, went to be with the Lord, 8:31am, March 14, 2018.
She was born Saturday, August 27, 1921 in Livingston, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Arlice and Willie Mae (Bowden) Hodges.
She was the oldest of 3 Children. She has been a Member of the First Methodist Church since a very young age, First Methodist Church of Livingston and First United Methodist Church of Cookeville.
She was active in the Methodist Women’s Society of Christian Service, Capshaw PTA, Girl Scouts, Eastern Star, Optimist Club, and was the first inductee Member of PEO, Chapter L in Cookeville, May 8, 1958. She served as President of Chapter L (1964-66). She was a faithful member of the Methodist Backsliders Sunday School Class and pianist for 50+ years. Her great love for piano and organ music were used for many church and funeral services. Her tender, caring, and loving spirit helped her give comfort, concern and God’s love to others. She was God’s servant, devoted wife, mother, loyal friend and champion for the less fortunate.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Leslie H. “Bud” King, 1976 and Harold E. Hunter, 1998 and two brothers, Houston (Betty) Hodges and Earl G. Hodges.
She is survived by her 4 children, Pamela & Hubie Smith, Kyra Parrish, Leslie “Buddy” & Peggy King, Jr. and Craig & Sheila King, and cousin, Frances Castleman.
Virginia is so proud not only of her children, but Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren:
Grandchildren: Brandon Parrish and Jonathan Parrish, Alison (Parrish) & Marvin Griffin, Kristi & Tony Burkhardt, Leslie & Nichole King III, Jenna & Russell Tribble and Chad & Alyssa King.
Great Grandchildren: Mason Burkhardt and Maddux Burkhardt, Trevor King, Carter King, Benjamin Griffin and William Griffin, Graham Tribble and Audrey Tribble.
Pall Bearers: Tony Burkhardt, Larry Hodges, Leslie King III, Brandon Parrish, John Parrish, Hubie Smith, Chad King & Russell Tribble.

Funeral services for Ms. King will be held Sunday, March 18, 2018 beginning at 3:00 pm at First United Methodist Church in Cookeville, with Pastor's Martin Theiland, Mark Gaw and John Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Cookeville.
The family will receive friends at Crest Lawn Funeral Home, Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and at the First United Methodist Church, Sunday, March 18, from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm.
