Obituary

Dr. Paul Nicholas Jacquin, M.D. 74, of Cookeville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Paul was born in Joliet, Illinois on Saturday, March 25, 1944, to the late Marian Bernice Jacquin and the late Paul Benjamin Jacquin.

Paul married Susan Jane Gilbert-Knutson Jacquin on March 19, 1994, in Salem, Oregon.

Paul is survived by his wife and her daughter Julie, his two daughters Emilie Schreiber of Poway, California and Susan Kranitz of Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as his two grand-daughters Allie (15) and Evie (12) Schreiber and his sister Susan Fulton of Brandon, Mississippi.

Dr. Jacquin came to Cookeville in 1996 to provide much-needed cancer care to the Putnam County area. He was the first full-time cancer specialist at the Cookeville hospital, and for the first 3 yrs saw patients five days a week, took care of hospitalized cancer patients every day, and was available seven days a week to both his patients and other physicians. He continued this high standard of cancer care with only minimal help for the next ten years until other medical oncologists were added to the hospital staff.

In addition to providing high quality and compassionate cancer care to all of his patients, he also worked behind the scenes to improve the quality of care, both thru formal participation on hospital committees, and informally, improving lines of communication with regional medical centers and pharmaceutical companies.

His honest caring of his patients and commitment to their best care was evident with every patient that he saw. Similarly, he cared deeply for his family with much love and devotion.

He was a salutatorian graduate of Crete-Monee High School in Crete, Illinois, Michigan State University and the University of Illinois in Chicago Medical School.

A Celebration of Life for Dr. Paul Nicholas Jacquin, M.D. will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Bell Hall Auditourium/ Nursing Building at Tennessee Technological University at 1:00 pm.

You may give in memory to The Cancer Center Foundation at Cookeville Regional Medical Center or The American Cancer Society.

My heart was so sadden when I saw on FB we lost such an amazing compassionate man. I worked with Dr Jacquin at the cancer center. He cared for his parents so much. But he also had a humerous side. He will be so missed. My prayers are with his family. He treasured his grandchildren, loved his family. God bless you.

I was a patient of Dr. Jaquin 2017-2019. I enjoyed it so much when I would see him and I was almost bawling when he told me that I was cancer free. Not tears of joy mind you. It was sadness knowing I wouldn't be his patient. My prayers of peace for his family. God bless you!

My heart hurts with the passing of Dr. Jacquin. I have thought about him often; most recently with the 25th anniversary of him treating and curing my cancer in Salem, Oregon prior to his move to TN. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family; may they find comfort in knowing he was loved by all.
