Mary Beth (Hill) Gardner, 62, Moss, TN. On March 11th, 2020 Mary was called home after an extended battle with chronic illness and cancer.

Mary was born on September 19, 1957, in Kalamazoo, Michigan and was the eldest sister to her 4 siblings. Mary graduated from Portage Central in 1975 and worked in the optical field for several years before continuing her education. In 1993 Mary graduated from Davenport University with a degree in accounting. Mary worked as an accountant until retiring due to chronic illness. Mary continued to work diligently to be an excellent support to her family as a stay at home mom and property manager.

Mary married her high school sweetheart, Gerald Johnson in 1977. The couple was blessed with their first and only daughter, Rachel, in 1981. After an amicable end to her first marriage, Mary met and married her second husband, Henry Korstanje in 1987 and welcomed her youngest daughter, Angelique in 1988. After their divorce, she met her soulmate Steve Gardner who she married on July 1, 1992. They enjoyed 26 years of marriage, filled sometimes with joy and sometimes with sorrow, but always filled with love.

Mary had an infectious and welcoming smile and deeply cared for her friends and family and professional acquaintances. In her youth, Mary was a fierce advocate for her younger siblings, often stepping in to provide support when needed. Mary was a deeply devoted mother and saw or spoke nearly daily with both of her daughters, right up until the end. As a property manager, Mary cared deeply for her tenants and always went the extra mile to extend an empathetic ear and provide care and support.

Mary was an avid crafter and enjoyed particularly cross stitch and crocheting. Mary enjoyed completing complicated projects and giving them to friends and family as gifts.

Mary was preceded in death by parents: William James Hill Jr. and Effie (Treizenburg) Hill and siblings: Michael Hill and Jeanie (Hill) Roberts.

Mary is survived by her husband, Steve Gardner, daughters, Rachel (Johnson) Loveland and Angelique (Korstanje) Cook. stepsons, Ben, Jeremy, and John Gardner and many grandchildren. Also her sibling's Patience (Hill) Ruggio and Brenda (Hill) Councell.

Mary chose cremation, the family followed her wishes, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to help cover the cost of burial services.
